retinal imaging

Our office uses digital retinal imaging to increase our understanding of your ocular health. In addition to helping with early disease detection, retinal images provide a permanent historical record of changes in your eyes. Retinal imaging is an important component of eye health assessment.

At Beach Vision we use imaging of the retina and ocular coherence tomography (OCT) to help us evaluate the retina, macula, optic nerve head and other structures to give us an in-depth evaluation of your eye health. With OCT we are able to visualize the different layers of the retina to assess conditions that are not normally seen. This helps enormously in the evaluation of different conditions of the eye. Measurements are microns.

Getting this image is as simple as getting your picture taken. It is quick and pain-free. The images become a part of your medical history and are a great baseline for any future changes in your health. We use them to follow glaucoma and macular degeneration routinely. We review and explain the images to you, so that you see your eye and have a greater understanding of how it works.
